Nancy Rae Brown, a native of South Dakota, retired from New Jersey to Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia to paint! She opened her business, Art Work Elysium, to carry on her lifelong passion. She works in oil, sometimes with palette knife for large scenes, and in colored pencil for detailed home portraits. She believes that artists are able to see anything as a possible painting. "When I discover a subject, I enjoy translating the beauty to canvas or board and add to my collection of treasured scenes."
